Ideas Pertaining to the User Interface

Graphs are more effective than numbers for people on shifts. Use a few graphs that summarize critical information about the current status of the experiment and data acquisition system,

Use as few windows as possible. Having too many different little windows opened clutters the computer desktop and makes it difficult to find stuff.

The DAQ must be accessible locally (in the experimental area) and remotely.

Every experiment must have a user account. It is not good when everybody shares the same account because then you do not know who is running the active processes.
