Tell Outlook 2007 to use Legacy Free/Busy (perform only if Client cannot see Free/Busy data for multiple users)

  1. Use Ctrl + right-click to display the context menu of the Outlook icon in the Notification Area.
  2. Click the option “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration…” to load the AutoConfiguration test utility.
  3. Clear the checkboxes for “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” and ensure “Use AutoDiscover” is checked.
  4. Click “Test” to run the test and observe the results log.
  5. If the results are returned with the AutoDiscovery server (autodiscovery.anl.gov) not being found (error code 0x80004005 on the Log pane), you may need to configure the client to use the legacy system for Free/Busy retrieval.
  6. Close Outlook and start the Windows Registry Editor.
  7. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar.
  8. Create a new (32-bit) DWORD value called “UseLegacyFB” and set its value to 1.
  9. Close the Registry Editor and re-start Outlook 2007, check to ensure Free/Busy information is now being retrieved properly.
