Office 365 (Outlook 2013) - Client Capabilities

Email Functions

Set sharing permissions for entire mailbox Plus green.png There are a large number of sharing levels: Owner, Publishing Editor, Editor, Publishing Author, Author, Nonediting Author, Reviewer, Contributor, None. Each level has varying Read, Write, Delete and "Other" options.

Interact with a shared mailbox Plus green.png Shared Mailboxes are automatically subscribed to and displayed when logged into an email account that has access.
Interact with a shared folder Plus green.png In order to view a shared folder, you need to must also grant visibility to the parent folder (usually the Mailbox).
Authenticate and send as another user Minus red.png It is not possible to set up a standalone Outgoing server connection. Multiple accounts can be configured, however.
Send on behalf of another user (change identities) Plus green.png You can change your "From" address, provided you have appropriate permissions. It will send the message as "[you] on behalf of [other user]". Lacking permission, you'll get a bounce email telling you that you can't send on behalf of someone unless you have permission to do so.
Set and modify server-side filters Plus green.png Creating most filters will do so on server-side. Some client-side specific rules will alert you when they are client-side only with a message that says "This rule will only run when you check your email in Outlook. If Outlook isn't running..."

Expand recipients from server-side distribution list Plus green.png Once expanded, the list cannot be compressed. A warning is given notifying the user of this.
Forward email inline Plus green.png This is the default option.
Forward email as attachment Plus green.png The default option for forwarding is to "Forward Inline". To change this setting, it's done by preference, not by individual message. Select File -> Mail -> Replies and forwards and change the "When replying to/forwarding a message" option.
View full headers of a message Plus green.png To see full headers, open the message in a new window, click File -> Info -> Properties. Headers are listed under "Internet headers"
Export email (to import elsewhere) Plus green.png You can export mail as a PST file which is obviously useful for Outlook and certain third party apps that can handle PSTs, or you can export as a CSV.
Detach attachments from email messages Plus green.png
Set tags, flags, or categories on email Plus green.png Outlook 2013 allows you to "Categorize" emails with default color categories that can be renamed. You can also flag them for "Follow Up", which allows you to add notifications to your calendar or set reminders.

Subscribe to external .ics calendars Plus green.png Subscribed external calendar locations are stored in the cloud, so subscribing to an external calendar in Outlook 2013 makes that same calendar available in other compatible clients, like Outlook on the web.
