What E-mail software and connection protocols are supported?
- Any client that can connect via IMAP, POP, MAPI, EWS, RPC/HTTP, or ActiveSync should be supported for mail send and receive capabilities.

Can I synchronize my mobile device with my Exchange mailbox?
- Yes, Exchange 2010 supports connectivity from any mobile device that supports IMAP/POP, Blackberry Enterprise, or ActiveSync protocols.
- Activesync or Blackberry Enterprise are the preferred methods, as they will synch your mailbox Calendar and Contact items as well as mail items. IMAP/POP only supports synchronization of mail items.
- Most iOS, Android, and Windows Phones support Activeysnc, as do the newest Blackberry 10 devices. older Blackberry devices leverage the Blackberry Enterprise protocol to connect.
- Connecting via Activeysnc or Blackberry Enterprise protocols requires that you accept the ANL Security policy on your phone the first time you connect.
- The only rule that enforced by the ANL mobile device security policy is a screen lock with a 4 character password. Accepting this security policy will not limit your mobile device in any other way.

- We do not currently impose a size limit on Exchange mailboxes. That being said, your user experience will vary greatly depending on the size of your mailbox and the Email client you use. CIS has posted recommended limits for many popular email clients, which you can also reference below.
What are the recommended Mailbox size limitations
- Limitations vary based on the client you choose to use to read your mail. Limits for popular clients can be found at the link below. Mailboxes that exceed these limits may experience degraded performance.

From how far back are you able to restore lost E-mail data?
- We keep backup data for 35 days from the date of deletion. If you notify us within that time frame, we are usually able to accommodate a restore.
Can E-mail be forwarded offsite for non-laboratory employees?
- No, for legal and security purposes we are no longer permitted to offer forwarding services for non-employees. This includes former ANL employees.
How long are mailboxes kept when an employee terminates?
- Mailboxes are currently deleted 14 days after the employee leaves the laboratory. From the day of deletion, management will have 35 days to request an archive copy of that data. Once that 35 days has passed, the mailbox data is permanently purged from the system.
