As of September, 2021, two major milestones have been accomplished for the Gammashpere Upgrade:
- Odd GS 81-109 have The Slope Box Extension upgrade equipped on each detector module (HPGe + BGO + SB + SBX = One Detector Module).
- VXI 5 has been taken offline, allowing for removal of odd GS 81-109 grey cables.
- A passive Collector Box is in use with a new Router Cable Plant, allowing one VME crate (containing three IOCs) to be removed from the shack. Fiber optic cable connects Router 3 to Master Trigger in the shack.
User Guides for Experiments
The User Guides for Experiments contain brief walkthroughs that are used for EVERY experiment with Digital Gammashpere. It outlines the directory structure, start/stop data collection runs, merging and sorting data, calibrating the HPGe detectors, etc. These are meant for all ATLAS Users who take shifts for experiments.
Advanced User Guides
The Advanced User Guides contain more detailed guides on how to setup an experiment for Digital Gammasphere. This is intended for frequent/returning users, ANL postdocs, and graduate students on extended visits who assist in maintaining and operating Gammasphere. These guides cover more advanced topics for ATLAS Users who have experience running experiments and desire a deeper understanding of Gammasphere's systems and supporting software/firmware/devices.
Expert Documentation
The Expert Documentation section contains downloads of highly detailed documentation and procedures developed by onsite experts. These are not meant for training personnel in experimental operations. ATLAS Users who are Principal Investigators may obtain understanding of certain functionality specific to their proposed experiment. Some of these topics are still in the developing/testing/implementing phases of new hardware/firmware/software for Gammasphere.
