&lt;div&gt;We do make use of the two EPS signals provided into and out of the cryopump system.&lt;br /&gt;

The cryo Ready output from the cryopump is used by our EPS system to indicate the cryopump is in a good state, cooled down with no faults. When the cryo Ready signal goes away the EPS system assumes a failure of the cryopump and will start closing the gate valves into and out of the kohzu to isolate the monochrometer.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The CC Enable input to the cryopump is fed from the EPS system to indicate that the kohzu mono is under good vacuum and ready to be cooled down. If the CC Enable signal goes away the cryopump will try to protect the kohzu unit by going into Stop mode followed by Stop-Off mode if the condition exists for more than 2 seconds, in stop off mode the cryopump will open up the inner loop and open up the valves needed to vent the sub-cooler and heater vessel and open the N@ purge line. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In order to keep the cryopump in a ready state after a warm up of the monochrometer, a set of loop-back jumpers is provided in the A-hutch EPS rack which jumper-out both cryo Ready and CC Enabled signals. This is only a temporary condition to prevent the EPS system telling the cryopump to go into stop-off mode and thereby warm-up all cryopump componenets. As soon as the monochrometer work is complete and the kohzu is pumped down to operational level these jumpers are removed for normal EPS feedback and control.&lt;br /&gt;

In April 2021 after switching the cryopump power from emergency to regular power after the switch gear testing cycle the Touch Panel (or HMI) did not boot and displayed the boot screen followed by a flashing cursor, see image https://anl.box.com/s/45fzhe5nie31xg5qucq04wlc4r44a97o.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Some further investigation revealed that the unit was corrupted and was not seeing the network so any recovery method was eliminated.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We contacted RI who recommended replacing the unit and re-image with the original image file, they supplied this file and the step-by-step instructions on how to do this re-image process.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

In April 2021 after switching the cryopump power from emergency to regular power after the switch gear testing cycle the Touch Panel (or HMI) did not boot and displayed the boot screen followed by a flashing cursor, see image https://anl.box.com/s/45fzhe5nie31xg5qucq04wlc4r44a97o.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Some further investigation revealed that the unit was completely brain-dead and was not seeing the network so any recovery method was eliminated.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We contacted RI who recommended replacing the unit and re-image with the original image file, they supplied this file and the step-by-step instructions on how to do this re-image process.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

We have found that almost every time we warmed up the cryopump the subsequent cool-down was accompanied with a failure of V17.1 (https://anl.box.com/s/lj0x4bf7uwf35s3keuxirxjehi2nzryj) to hold pressure.  No direct cause of the failure was seen and looking at the surface of the valve seat did not show significant scarring (see photo here https://anl.box.com/s/8ririw2ozbtw6930jk5qdovqlau1qz2y). We never found a fix to this problem and were resolved to keep a stock of complete replacement valves to be ready for the next warm up/cool down cycle. We even tried replacing just the plunger but this did not work because in order to replace this you need to compromise the valve setup by dismantling the valve stem thereby creating another bad seating condition.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We did notice on the next generation of pumps, the feed going into V17.1 and V17.2 now has a fine gauze filter trap, so maybe some debris was getting into the valve and prevented a good seal.&lt;br /&gt;
